Storm Malik was a powerful windstorm that struck parts of Northern Europe, including the Hungary, Denmark, and Germany, on January 29-30, 2022. It brought strong winds, heavy rain, and widespread disruptions, especially in Scotland and northern England. Winds reaching 100 mph (160 km/h). In Hungary, it reached 100-120 km/h in some areas.
During the Storm Malik I went cycling in the countryside near the village to the dam. I used one of my favorite lightweight polyester Quechua pants with my Quechua rain jacket, and as a complement a Versace, hoodless oversized windbreaker.
Here is the longer video. I have walked in strong winds several times before, but this was the first time I made videos. I didn’t plan it, it just came spontaneously.
The most captivating element was when the Versace jacket billowed out, like a parachute. It almost gave the sensation of soaring away with it. 🙃
Indeed, it was a distinctive occurrence, and I desire a greater number of comparable windstorms. But of course it is not a pleasant occurrence when the wind causes damage to something…
Wind sounds that I recorded under the hood and jacket. And sounds that I recorded inside the house, next to the slightly open old window.
